FAQ
What is Belegarth?
Belegarth is a full-contact live-action-role-play. Played by martial artists and D&D enthusiasts alike, combatants enjoy Belegarth because there are no skill buffs.
How old do I have to be to play?
Spectators of any age are welcome, and in fact many of our members bring their partner/spouse and children to watch practice (or play at the adjacent playground).

Combat participants must be at least 16 (with a signed, notarized waiver and an accompanying parent or guardian). Digital waivers are not accepted for minors.
Combat participants 18+ are required to fill out an adult waiver and present a valid government picture ID.
Our waivers are available here.
What are the rules?
The full set of rules can be found here, and we recommend all participants review the rules thoroughly prior to participating.
Do you have a membership fee?
We are a free-to-play game and our members will never be asked to pay a membership fee.
What do I bring to practice?
We recommend that folks come to practice in comfortable, athletic clothes. Water is frequently provided by the group.
We provide loaner equipment for those who need it. We welcome participants to bring their own gear, as long as it is built to the specifications listed in the Book of War. All participants gear will be safety tested prior to combat.

Safety gear (including athletic cups or pelvic protection, gloves, and kneepads) is recommended.

While some seating is available at our practice locations, many of our attendees will bring camping chairs.
Where and When is practice?
Practices are on Sunday from 1pm-4pm. We recommend joining our Discord or Facebook to stay up-to-date on weather cancellations.

Our Spring and Summer season practices are held at Hardesty Park in West Akron from mid-March through November.

Our Indoor season practices are held in Canton, OH from December through early March. Please contact us for the address.
What is Avalon presents Sunday Skirmishes?
Each month, we host a day battle event called Sunday Skirmishes. We follow the Belegarth ruleset, and invite foam-fighters from across Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to join us for a day of scenario battles, side quests, and camaraderie.
